| Hi there! I'm actually a non-vampire, but my original reason to go to this site is to find out what I can about actual vampiric culture. I can't learn anything from the stereotypes people cast into the wind so I was hoping to jump right into a different approach. If there's something the stereotypes say that you want to clarify as untrue, or would like to state new facts on your culture/heritage I'm hoping you'll stick around. And I'm sorry if my presence and/or choice of vocabulary is in any way offensive both now and in the future. :) |

| ah. i had suspected as much. after research i quickly discovered that none of the historically recognized reports of vampirism mentioned it, so i would have been disappointed in myself had Hollywood tricked me. thank you for the verification. |

| also, stakes, crosses, holy water and shit like that won't harm us. although a stake may if you hit it incredibly hard in the heart lol. that'd be enough to kill anyone though!!! er...oh, yeah, and we don't generally live any longer than you humans either. that's a load of rubbish too. er...we're basically like humans, only we need to drink blood, we have a slower heart rate (or i do anyway, 45 bpm!!!) and we may be slightly stronger, but nothing too drastic. that's about it really... |

|
| hm. that all makes perfect sense. such odd weaknesses would have been out of place for sure. and if vamps actually have a lower than average heart rate it may help explain the necessity for extra blood. but i still can't be certain. does anyone here have a theory on the primary nature of vampirism? is it a medical condition or an actual genetic difference? a state of mind or a state of body? something that would be in some way physically unhealthy or rather a blessing? sorry to intrude so much, but i can never avoid curiosity. that's why i appreciate your support so much. |

| Yes, the so called fear or repulsion by viewing a cross always annoyed me. I actually collect crosses as a hobby. |

|
| that would be quite funny. i believe, as far as i know, that it is a genetic differentiation to humans. there is something in our DNA which is different, but i'm not quite sure what. it is both a mental and physical. i'm not sure on the primary nature of the condition... i view it to be a blessing, but one that harms our counterparts, humans. |

|
| ah, so you would say it is genetic. i have been wondering about this but didn't have a chance to bring it up yet. Not to offend anyone (which this very well might) but are vampires humans? i was wondering if it was a parallel evolution or a variation of the basic species. i know it may sound ignorant but i'm just really curious. |

| I used to believe that I was. Though I ALWAYS had an affinity for blood, an unsually keen sense of smell and night vision, and some abilities to read emotions (thoughts?). I was well into my 20's when some eventst took place that 'awakened' me. And for me it was several more years before I realized I was an Incubus (not much information is available still). In my minor research into my unusual nature I have come to the belief that it is a genetic trait (most often dormant) I suspect that there are others who are awakened but either don't recognize what they are or it is dismissed as other things. |

drakenxithrevic,
Would be very interested in any information. I have noticed that with all of the literature/online info available regarding sangs & psi's there is precious little information of value about incubi/succubi around.
perhaps a cause I should champion? |

| incubi and succubi? word in the basic circles is that they're a form of demon who can take sustenance from sexual emotions in a vampiric or pseudo-vampiric fashion. their powers are supposed to be most effective when used on people in a sleepy or drowsy state but i don't know much either. i did also hear a rumor that incubi and succubi can be either organic or spiritual entities but i don't expect that to hold true. drakenxithrevic, if it's not too much trouble could you send me some data as well? |
