The problem with this teachers notions ,and many misinformed others is that Wicca and Satanism are not anywhere near the same religion. Wicca deals with nature and the worship of gods that are represenative of the one entity that created us all...it is an agricultural based religion where the main festivals are centered on times representing the bounty of the earth..like harvest in the fall,the awaking of earth and the god in spring,death and rebirth in the winter. Satanism is actually a religion where the person involved is responsible for his own actions and does basicly what he desires..he doesn't actually answer to another..it is within himself.It has gotten a bad rap because many old time people in rebellion against the church took their desires to the extreme and performed rituals of sacrifice and sexual abuse in an attempt to rebel and horrify the church. They let their basest instincts reign and said satan led them to it....I believe we are all given the choice to find our religious base in ourselves. The one who created all gives us this freedom. Wicca is very much an individualized religion...many are solitary and worship alone...and any manner in which you find unity with the goddess and god is acceptable.The thing in particular that drew the christian church down on wiccans was the practice in ancient times of having sex during the rituals of spring..when fertility was in all things of the earth. They disliked the idea that people not married to each other had sex. In early times life was short and many died in childbirth or their early years...so reproduction and replenishing the community was not looked upon as evil if it was not in wedlock. Witches use most of their skills and spells in the practice of helping their family or community to excel...they knew how to use the natural herbs of the land to cure ills,and often were practiced in delivering children...the saying"do as ye will..do ye no harm"pretty much sums up the outlook of most witches. The things you send out return to you..so you seek to do no harm..as bad karma will return to you. Evil witches generally felt they could do as they pleased because of deals they made with "the devil or satan"...this is a concept that evolved after the christian churches brought in satan with their bible,it is actually a crossover concept...some of the rites were kept from the old wiccan religion..but concepts of good and evil from the christians were added. this is where the "satanic religion"of today evolves. It is actually another entity of its own. This is just my take on the subject...    Jun 05, 2008 03:17 pm blakkitten16 Posts : 511 offline I acually agree more with the wiccan religion then the christian one I was raised in. lots of thing in christianity don't make sence to me. like in one part it says that long hair on a man is discrasful but samson was not allowed to cut his hair and look what happened to him when it got cut. and one of the ten commandment is thou shalt not kill, but "god" led many of his people in war where lots of people died. Wiccanism is more belivible to me    Jun 06, 2008 01:43 am pandora Posts : 45 Lillie..I'm still learning too..about wiccan religion..but the god is not as complicated as it seems....he is actually part of the one who created all..as the goddess is...to make it easier to relate to people they gave the goddess the moon and the god the sun. She is the earth and he the fertility to produce on the earth. That the goddess gives birth to the god and then conceives by him is just symbolism for the never ending cycle of life....they are all part of the one who created us all.It all relates to life's cycle of birth,fertility,death,and rebirth... The bible does seem to contradict itself sometimes...and much of that stems from it being written by individuals at different times and places....the old testament contains many tales of war and vengence....while the new testament dwells mainly on jesus and his teachings of peace and fellowship with each other. I think there is an entity that created all...and any way you chose to acknowledge its exsistence is acceptable....for most of the worlds religions are based on a central figure..and lesser followers such as jesus,the godess & god,budda,etc.    Jun 06, 2008 06:01 am blakkitten16 Posts : 511 offline eh..it's all to confusing.
